More Exciting Job Opportunities at Partrac Ltd

Due to an expanding workload, Partrac is recruiting for Physical Oceanographers, Sedimentologists, Graduate Marine Scientists and Data Analysts.

PHYSICAL OCEANOGRAPHERS / SEDIMENTOLOGISTS

We require Physical Oceanographers and Sedimentologists to conduct coastal oceanographic data acquisition and analysis projects. The responsibilities include client liaison, project planning and logistics, H&S responsibilities, mooring design and deployment, sensor programming and calibration, laboratory procedures, data analysis and report writing. You will be required to conduct offshore work and undertake shore-based survey work. These roles also include project management responsibilities.

We are looking for highly motivated and experienced individuals (one to three years commercial experience) who have a desire to stretch their personal horizons. Whilst previous experience of leading survey teams is an advantage, we are keen to invite experienced candidates currently in survey roles wishing to develop their careers further.

You will be a key team player in a rapidly expanding company, and suitable candidates will progress rapidly as the structure of the company evolves to meet the growing demands.

GRADUATE MARINE SCIENTISTS

As a Marine Scientist, you will be involved with marine and estuarine survey logistics, instrument programming and deployment, water quality and sediment sampling, data presentation/interpretation, and reporting. You will gain experience of project management, assisting with proposals, survey design, cost control and client relations. The job requires UK and potentially international travel.

You must have a methodical approach, with an attention to detail. A positive attitude and excellent communication skills are essential for this role. Experience in small boat handling is highly desirable. BSc (Hons) or MSc in a relevant subject is required.

DATA ANALYST

We are seeking a Data Analyst to quality control and process realtime and downloaded data from our range of oceanographic and metocean instrumentation. This role involves running existing processing protocols as well as being responsible for the production of new Matlab functions and Excel macros to produce quality-controlled data, statistics and images for inclusion into client reports, which you will also be responsible for producing.

We seek an experienced, highly motivated and technical team-player who is methodical, organised, and logical.  Knowledge and experience of metocean equipment (AWACs, ADCPs, wave buoys), metocean science, sedimentology and/or the renewable energy sector is highly desirable.

You will have a background in mathematics, computer science, oceanography or a related subject and be qualified to BSc (Hons) level although a PhD would be advantageous. You must be highly literate in MS Excel and MS Word although experience in Matlab and ArcGIS will be a strong advantage.

Partrac is an independent oceanographic and marine geoscience consultancy-contractor. Our head office is in the centre of Glasgow, with offices also in Thurso. Please send your CV and covering letter outlining your suitability, to Judy McKay at Partrac jmckay@partrac.com
